A fancy filter from the birthplace of coffee with a surprisingly creamy body. Our first few sips reminded us of a hot fudge sunday on a summer day, and we'll stand by that.

These beans are the result of a long-term collaborative relationship between one of our favorite small, Amsterdam-based importers The Coffee Quest and legendary Ethiopian producers Daye Bensa. This lot comes from a group of small growers who process their cherries at Daye Bensa's Abore Washing Station in Bombe, Sidama, an area known for its rich vegetation and warm, humid climate.

For an Ethiopian filter -- which are often associated with classic "Yirgacheffe-y" notes of bright florals and tea-like bodies -- this is a real smooth sipper. Some fruit and deep chocolate undertones bring out a bit of hot fudge fun that will have you smiling like a kid who just heard the jingle of an ice cream truck. Brew your heart out with any sort of filter method... you won't be disappointed.

Daye Bensa

Daye Bensa is a legendary high-end organic coffee production/export company started in 1996 by Asefa Dukamo Korma and Mulugeta Dukamo. After years of steady growth, they now own and operate 16 washing stations and four dry mills in the Bensa, Aroressa, and Chire districts of Sidama. Between 2020 and 2022 they won three Ethiopian Cups of Excellence (a ridiculous feat), and their own farms (namely in Shantawene and Keramo villages) continue to be standard-bearers when it comes to shade tree usage, organic production, and soil fertility.

Fucking Strong Coffee is a specialty coffee brand from the folks behind Good Beans - a beloved bean shop tucked amongst the canals of Amsterdam. We built the brand in 2018 as a response to the monotonous, snobby tone that had infected most of the specialty coffee world. Minimalist cafes, ridiculously technical language, pretentious branding, and moralizing eye rolls… they all snarkily whispered the same thing: specialty coffee is for the few. You want to know what we think…? Fuck that.

In many ways, our beans are fancy as fuck. We traceably source coffee from small, top-notch producers who are paid far above market price for meticulously processing their cherries and sustainably maintaining their land. In Amsterdam, we specialty roast with the type of care that would make any smirking barista smile – bringing out bold, surprising flavors that we’re always jazzed to share with our friends.

Our fresh beans are packed in our signature resealable cans (which you can refill for a discount at our Amsterdam shop if you're in town) or in swanky black kilo bags. We roast weekly and ship within 2-3 business days.
